Report: Notre Dame QB, former top-5 dual-threat, enters name into NCAA transfer portal

A former top quarterback recruit is back on the market. Tom Loy of 247Sports is reporting that Notre Dame QB Phil Jurkovec has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Entering the portal doesn’t mean Jurkovec will ultimately leave Notre Dame, but the former top-100 prospect can be recruited again. Coming out of high school in Pennsylvania, Jurkovec was an Army All-American. On the 247Sports Composite, he was rated 4-stars, the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback and No. 83 prospect overall for the class of 2018. At the time, Jurkovec received 16 scholarship offers, including Clemson and Ohio State. His SEC offers came from Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

Jurkovec appeared in two games as a freshman, recording just two passes and two rushing attempts. As a sophomore, he played in six games, going 12-of-15 passings for 222 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 22 times for 130 yards.
