Report: Oklahoma gives in to national outrage, will allow grad transfer QB Austin Kendall to play at West Virginia
Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that Oklahoma grad transfer QB Austin Kendall wanted to transfer to West Virginia.
However, Oklahoma was blocking that transfer, citing rules that allow Big 12 teams to prevent players from leaving for other Big 12 programs.
Even as the Sooners landed a graduate transfer QB in Jalen Hurts, the blocking continued. National outrage ended up changing the Sooners’ minds, apparently, and on Wednesday evening, it was revealed the Oklahoma would no longer block Kendall:

has learned. The school worked through its concerns over a transfer within the Big 12 to arrive at the decision.

Kendall will likely take over for Will Grier, who is off to the NFL. He’ll play under first-year WVU coach Neal Brown, who replaced Dana Holgorsen.
Now, both player and school are happy. If only the Sooners could have arrived at this decision, well, sooner, and saved themselves the embarrassment.
