Mark Richt wasn’t out of a coaching job long — at least according to one report. A Miami Hurricanes site, not affiliated with the university, reported that Richt is expected to be named coach.

ESPN’s Brett McMurphy later confirmed that Richt is expected to be hired by the Hurricanes.

A former backup quarterback to Jim Kelly during the Hurricanes’ early glory years in the early 1980s, Richt would inherit a team that finished 8-4 after Al Golden was fired at midseason.

Richt was fired at Georgia after compiling a 145-51 record in 15 seasons, including a 9-3 finish this season. Richt coached the Bulldogs to two SEC championships.
