Rico Walker, a multi-position standout at Hickory (North Carolina), is narrowing things down in his recruitment. After naming a top 11 in May, Walker is narrowing his focus to 5 teams, including a trio of SEC programs.

Auburn, Florida and Tennessee are in Walker’s top 5 along with Maryland and the home-state Tar Heels. Walker tweets that a commitment is coming “soon,” but does not specify a date.

On his Hudl page, Walker lists his positions as wide receiver, outside linebacker, tight end and defensive end. He’s rated a 4-star edge defender on the 247Sports Composite, which ranks him as the No. 4 North Carolina recruit and No. 178 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023.

Walker has 27 scholarship offers. He visited Tennessee in April and May before June visits at Maryland and North Carolina.
