NFL releases second statement on Robert Kraft following his alleged involvement in prostitution sting
In some circles, the NFL already has a reputation of going after Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots following the “Deflategate” scandal. Now with Kraft’s alleged involvement in a prostitution sting in Florida, the league must have felt the need to explain how it plans to oversee any potential punishment it may hand down to Kraft following Friday’s news.
If you missed it late last week, Florida police announced on Friday that the owner of the Patriots will be charged with two counts of soliciting prostitution following the conclusion of a human trafficking and prostitution ring investigation involving several Florida spas. According to Jupiter Police Chief Daniel Kerr, who gave a press conference on Friday, there is video evidence against the 77-year-old Kraft.
Following all of that information, the NFL released this statement:
“The NFL is aware of the ongoing law enforcement matter and will continue to monitor developments.”
Now, after presumably taking in information over the weekend, the league sent out this statement on Monday:
“Our Personal Conduct Policy applies equally to everyone in the NFL. We will handle this allegation in the same way we would handle any issue under the Policy. We are seeking a full understanding of the facts, while ensuring that we do not interfere with an ongoing law enforcement investigation. We will take appropriate action as warranted based on the facts.”
The NFL has suspended players, coaches and even owners in the past for their actions away from the field and Kraft may soon face similar scrutiny from the league.
Kraft has denied all charges against him, although he has not spoken publicly since this news broke on Friday.
