We’re beginning to meet that portion of the schedule where teams must bring it each week and anything can happen.
There are some big conference games and out-of-conference games for the SEC in Week 4, and SDS is going to break down who’s savoring the spotlight.
SEC East
Tennessee at Georgia: People in Athens seem to have forgotten that the matchup with Tennessee has historically been a good rivalry in the SEC East. Georgia has been a very inconsistent team, whose anchor has been the run game all year long. The Vols are young, but talented and its talent at the skill positions could present challenges for the Bulldog secondary. Tennessee has a chance to throw the SEC’s Eastern Division into a tailspin with the upset, but a win by Georgia would stake claim that the East is the Bulldogs’ to be had.
Missouri at South Carolina: Both teams are coming off embarrassing performances, Missouri in a loss to Indiana and South Carolina in a hard-fought win over Vanderbilt in Nashville. Mizzou’s Maty Mauk and Marcus Murphy will be very difficult to slow down for Lorenzo Ward’s defense, and if both Shane Ray and Markus Golden are healthy on the defensive front for the Tigers, look out.
SEC West
Arkansas vs. Texas A&M: This is a very intriguing game in Dallas. Arkansas boasts one of the best rushing attacks in college football and the A&M defense has been faulty at times. We’ll learn a lot more about both teams within the picture of the SEC West during this game. Is A&M a legit contender? How improved are the Hogs?
Memphis at Ole Miss: Memphis went out to L.A. earlier this season and gave CFP hopeful UCLA all it could handle. The Tigers now face an Ole Miss team that’s in the top 10 and has wins over Boise State and Vanderbilt. Will the Rebels be looking ahead to Alabama next weekend? Don’t sleep on this weekend, Ole Miss fans.
