As Hurricane Matthew approaches the East Coast, concerns for Saturday’s SEC East contest between Georgia and South Carolina have become public knowledge.

The hurricane is expected to hit the Carolinas on Saturday, which presents a major problem for the Gamecocks’ home contest, which is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.

South Carolina’s athletics department issued a statement on Tuesday about the impending storm, stating that they are tracking the storm and will alert the public once a plan of action is in place.

Shortly after that announcement, Matt Connolly of The State tweeted a quote from South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in which Haley said she “can’t imagine” the two teams playing on Saturday.

It remains unclear what actions could be taken if the two teams are unable to play on Saturday.
