SEC names 2015 All-Freshman team
Christian Kirk sure did make an impression during his first SEC season.
The Texas A&M appeared on the SEC’s All-Freshman team three times, as a receiver, all-purpose offensive player and a return specialist.
Other highlights on the team, which the conference released Thursday, include four different Alabama players and a defensive front seven that already is intimidating.

Ole Miss’ DT Breeland Speaks had a really good season as a true freshman. He will be one of the best DT’s in the SEC next year. True freshman OG Javon Patterson should have made this list, he started just about every game for OM at LG and played very well. Freshman RT Sean Rawlings stepped up big for OM while Tunsil was out.
Ole Miss got left off the list, eh?
*Like*
Also, where is that monster DL from Tennessee, McKenzie? Media said he was the best ever before the season.
He wasn’t a starter and did not play much. Guessing you’re just a troll.
He ended the season very strong, but given he missed his entire senior year of HS football and wasn’t on campus until June, it impacted him early on .
That other TN DT, Shy Tuttle, would have been on this list had he not broken his ankle against UGA.
He was suspended the entire year… Give the guy a chance, he’s the second coming of Warren Sapp meets Jesus
The first coming of Warren Sapp meets Jesus already happened?
Good to see Beckner & Brady’s names on the list. Both also picked up Freshman All-American honors. Now if we could just score points…
Not that these backs aren’t splendid, but how in the world did Brandon Bryant not make this team? 53 tackles, 2 tfl, 1.5 sacks, 2 ints and a touchdown, come on! I’m not sure how they compare in passes defended, as none of the freshmen even make the NCAA min 1.12 per game which could actually be a good thing. (Only 32 DB made the min. defended AND 75% teams games required of NCAA individual record keeping, all of whom were SO. or higher)But still, bryant is turning into a vital open field defender and a heck of a tackler, and aren’t ALL four above cornerbacks? Seems kind of odd.
Sorry, I can’t read, apparently. Bryant does have the lowest number of passes defended at 3, but I still think his performance merits a place here. Then again, the four here are excellent. Westry is a beast and one of only four players to pick off prescott this year (and not an errant pass, most backs wouldn’t have been a factor in his position, but that was a heck of a play). Fitzpatrick is a given, and I think he will be one of the DBs in the country before his career ends. Same goes for Humphrey, who I think is better. Davis is the best DB on Au’s defense, but I’m not sure I would put him here over Bryant. Apples and oranges, why do people insist on lumping safeties with cornerbacks (nickelback on some defenses has unique responsibilities, too), DTs with ends and noseguards, and even offensive linemen with def. linemen? I don’t understand it. Different jobs often require very different things and often people who excel at doing their job don’t have the sexy stats.
