SEC baseball season is almost here. On Wednesday, the SEC and ESPN announced the schedule for all the 2022 regular-season and conference tournament games to be televised on the SEC Network, ESPNU and ESPN2.
The SEC Network leads the way with the bulk of the conference lineup. Here are some of the highlight matchups, based on preseason D1 Baseball rankings:
- No. 4 Mississippi State at No. 16 Georgia (March 18 & 20)
- No. 8 LSU at No. 9 Florida (March 25)
- No. 11 Florida State vs. No. 9 Florida (March 29)
- No. 4 Mississippi State at No. 2 Arkansas (April 1)
- No. 19 Tennessee at No. 3 Vanderbilt (April 2)
- No. 8 LSU at No. 2 Arkansas (April 15)
- No. 4 Mississippi State at No. 5 Ole Miss (April 21)
- No. 16 Georgia at No. 19 Tennessee (May 13)
- No. 5 Ole Miss at No. 8 LSU (May 14)
ESPN2 and ESPNU will also feature some notable top SEC showdowns:
- No. 19 Tennessee at No. 3 Vanderbilt on ESPN2 (April 1)
- No. 9 Florida at No. 3 Vanderbilt on ESPN2 (April 15)
- No. 4 Mississippi State at No. 5 Ole Miss on ESPN2 (April 23)
- No. 5 Ole Miss at No. 2 Arkansas on ESPN2 (April 30)
- No. 5 Ole Miss at No. 8 LSU on ESPN2 (May 13)
The SEC starts the season with 8 teams ranked in the 2022 D1Baseball Preseason Top 25, the most of any conference. In the D1 poll, 4 of the preseason top 5 and 6 of the top 10 teams are from the SEC. In 2021, the SEC led all conferences with 9 teams in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. SEC schools have won 3 of the last 4 College World Series championships. Mississippi State won in 2021, claiming the conference’s 7th national title in 12 years. It was MSU’s first national title in school history.
