We’re coming off one of the wildest SEC weekends in memory. Sometimes, we told you so. We knew Florida would have some struggles with Vandy but prevail, we knew that LSU would nab Georgia. Yeah, sometimes we were wrong, too. But forget that, because we’re going bold again. Here’s a bold prediction for each SEC game in Week 8:

Forget the injuries, forget the UT-Auburn game, Bama rolls

There’s a trend in weekly columns to assume a couple of things: a) Bama is a little down with the injuries, particularly to Tua Tagovailoa, b) UT is actually pretty good, and c) UT will cover a four-touchdown or so spread. We’ll grant a, consider b, but no chance on c. Bama is coming off a fairly ugly game and will have a large chip on their collective shoulders. They beat UT by 39 and 38 the last two years. We’ll call for a 40-point win this time.

And about Auburn

No, we’re not believers in Ole Miss. But one thing we believe in even less is whatever is going down at Auburn these days. If the passing game worked for UT, we’ve got a funny feeling that Jordan Ta’amu will put up some points. We’ll take the Rebels in the upset.

Cole Tracy is a hero

Mississippi State is probably going to have a great game down at Baton Rouge. They’ve had a week to work out some of the kinks in the offense, and the defense is already tough. Meanwhile, the Tigers have spent a week listening to how great they are. State leads by 10 at halftime, and this one comes down to the toe of Cole Tracy, who, fortunately for the Tigers, is lights out. His field goal at the horn keeps LSU’s dreams alive — but it’ll be THAT close.

Arkansas runs for 300

Here’s something that gets buried by the lousy defense down the stretch —Arkansas rushed for 299 yards last week against Ole Miss. Sure, they lost, but they’ll dust off that ground game and crack 300 yards rushing against Tulsa in a much-needed win.

Two Hundo for Hendo

Missouri is a solid favorite against a Memphis team that could absolutely give them fits. Tigers running back Darrell Henderson is one of the best in the nation, and he’ll replicate the 199 yards he had last week against UCF — well, make it an even 200. Meanwhile, Memphis has no real defense, so Missouri will end up with the win in a 42-31 kind of game, which is good for now but not so much next week when Benny Snell lines up against the Tigers. Speaking of which …

Kentucky passing?

Yes, given two weeks to watch the film from UK’s tough loss to A&M, coach Mark Stoops and offensive coordinator Eddie Gran will know that the Wildcats have to demonstrate reasonable capability in the passing game to beat Missouri, much less Georgia. UK will dedicate itself to a safe passing game that nets around 200 yards. That’s the big news from this one, which UK wins by 20.
