SEC coaches already earning bonus money for success in 2019
If you thought SEC coaches were well compensated already, take a peek at the checks two coaches have earned for their success so far this season.
Nick Saban is already among the elite moneymakers in college football, and for good reason, but the leader of Alabama’s dynasty got richer this weekend thanks to the Crimson Tide’s latest win over Texas A&M.
Saban isn’t the only coach cashing in as Barry Odom’s next house payment likely got paid thanks to Missouri’s debut in the 2019 AP Poll.
According to Steve Berkowitz of USA TODAY, Saban earned a $65,000 bonus for reaching six wins this season, which makes Alabama bowl eligible. Meanwhile, Odom earned a $5,000 check for Missouri making the latest AP Poll.
Berkowitz also notes that Dan Mullen would receive a $100,000 bonus for leading Florida to bowl eligibility. However, it should be noted that the Gators are not currently bowl eligible due to the fact two of their wins have come over FCS opponents (FBS teams can only count one win over FCS toward bowl eligibility).
It’s just a matter of time before Florida reaches seven wins based on the way they have been playing this year, so Florida may as well get that bonus check started for Mullen.
