The 2023 season is moving along as we approach the final October Saturday of college football of the year. Week 8 is in the books, and ESPN has updated its power rankings.

Six SEC squads remain in the latest top 25, as was the case last week. It was a good week for all but 1 of the SEC teams included in the power rankings.

ESPN’s staff writers kept Georgia at No. 1 with Michigan right behind at No. 2. The Bulldogs were off in Week 8 and return to action with a trip to Jacksonville for the annual rivalry clash with Florida.

Alabama remains the only SEC West team undefeated in conference play. The Crimson Tide moved into the top 10 of ESPN’s power rankings after picking up the rivalry win over Tennessee.

Ole Miss stayed on track with a win over Auburn. The 6-1 Rebels moved up 4 spots in the newest power rankings.

LSU became bowl eligible in Week 8, picking up win No. 6 in dominating fashion over Army. The Tigers moved up 4 spots in the ESPN power rankings.

Mizzou stayed on track in the SEC East race, cruising to a homecoming victory over South Carolina. The Tigers jumped 4 spots in the new power rankings.
