So much for Music City hosting 2021 SEC Media Days.

That was originally the plan but the Southeastern Conference announced on Tuesday that the event would instead be returning to Hoover. The league did not hold 2020 SEC Media Days due to COVID.

The 2021 SEC Media Days event will be held from July 19-22 at the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham.

Nashville is now scheduled to host SEC Media Days in 2023.

No location has yet been set for the league’s 2022 Media Days.

Here is a statement issued by league commissioner Greg Sankey on the SEC’s decision to move the event from Nashville:

“Nashville’s success with the NFL Draft in 2019 was a point of attraction when we originally selected it as site for SEC Football Media Days, but the current environment related to the virus will not allow us to explore some of the unique fan experiences we had hoped to pursue in Nashville for this event. With two years to prepare, we look forward to making SEC Media Days an even bigger event in Nashville in 2023.”
