SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic shares his takeaways for each SEC team following Week 7
Week 7 in the SEC featured every team in action except for Auburn, which was on an off week.
Several teams had impressive performances, including South Carolina, which took down No. 3 Georgia on the road. Tennessee also looked good, winning a defensive battle in Knoxville against Mississippi State.
Every Sunday morning, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic hops on Twitter to share his thoughts about each team. Here’s what he had to say about the 13 SEC teams that played on Saturday:
ARKANSAS:
Still questions at QB. Not being able to ride Boyd late hurt. Had field position late to be able to take that game. Struggling to get the ball downfield. Expected more variety from the offense coming off a bye. Knew what was coming on last two drives & couldn’t stop it— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
GEORGIA:
Ugly performance. OL started strong then faded after half. Didn’t feel like they adjusted well. Haven’t seen Fromm struggle like that. Success downfield should have been there with loaded box. Questionable management late. Defense was fine, just couldn’t get takeaways.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
LSU:
Huge win. Needed to be tested like that. Burrow to wows us weekly. 21-24 vs that group is insane. No turnover & no sacks! OL stepped up in a major way. Got good run looks & took advantage. Def got massive plays from Stingley & Chaisson late, big to get guys back over there— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
MISSOURI:
Nice win vs a team thats been improving. Massive offensive output. Solid ground game even though Bryant was limited there he was still efficient in air. Struggled to find an answer for QB runs but understandable for first game without Garrett. VERY interesting future— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
SOUTH CAROLINA:
Massive win for Muschamp & company. 3rd string QB in the game & they find a way to beat a top 5 team on the road. Defense came up time & time again. Kinlaw is so damn destructive. OL continues to look better. Stayed committed to the plan. Def adjusted well.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
TEXAS A&M:
The run game is just not going to be there for them to build around. I liked the aggressive calls early with QB runs mixed in. Were going to need an all time performance from 2nd & 3rd level of defense. Some of the freshman really flashed— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
VANDERBILT:
Not sure where this team is headed. Can’t find any identity, rhythm or feel offensively. To see the lack of prowess with the talent on that side of the ball is crazy. Defense can’t get stops & has no answers for the run game. Efficiency in pass game has to improve— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) October 13, 2019
Next weekend, all 14 SEC squads are in action. Tune in then to see what Cubelic has to say about Week 8’s action.
