SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic tweets takeaways from SEC's Week 5 action
We’re already through five weeks of the 2018 college football regular season, and we’re starting to learn a lot about each team.
Every Sunday morning, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic hops on Twitter to break down what he saw from each SEC squad that Saturday.
With the exception of Missouri, who was on a bye week, Cubelic broke down what he saw from each of the other 13 SEC squads this week.
Here’s what he had to say, starting with Alabama and ending with Vanderbilt:
We do it every week. My Sunday SEC takeaways:
ALABAMA: Possibly the most versatile offense I’ve seen. Can go 2 back, 2 tight, 4/5 wide & have 2 QBs that can play. Tua accuracy doesn’t seem possible. Center had nice bounce back game. Helps to have former starting RT to fill in.

AUBURN: Struggling to find any rhythm on offense. Defense can keep them in games but hard to imagine they won’t get frustrated if things stay the same. May be time to look at who you are on offense & what alternatives are available. Need more from the OL. QB needs consistency.

GEORGIA: D-line was active. Caused problems & won 1 on 1’s up front consistently. Perimeter tackles extremely well. Slower start but finished. Offense did what it does. Work the perimeter, make you run then come right at you & don’t turn it over. So many weapons. Mays a nice sub.

LSU: Folks really thought they were dropping an 8:15pm kick? Was the worst matchup of the year for the Ole Miss offense & the LT answered the call. Burrow made plays with arm & legs. Keep playing defense & limiting the turnovers & Tigers will win a lot of games.

OLE MISS: Head scratching to see this lack of production on offense. Too many weapons not to be able to generate more even against quality opponents. Have to clean up what you can control. 17 flags is flat unacceptable. Miserable on 3rd down.

TENNESSEE: I like the RBs. Chandler gives them a little extra. The OL did some things better. Still lost their share of 1 on 1’s & missed some simple stunts. Guarantano does a little more each week to show progression. Just not much around him. Defensive effort improving.

VANDERBILT: One won closer to bowl eligibility. Mistakes were uncharacteristic for Shurmur. Vaughn & Lipscomb were huge. Pass defense struggled. Huge test this week.

Check back next week to see what Cubelic has to say about the Week 6 action across the SEC.
