SEC football has been just as exciting as ever in 2024.

The conference has 5 of the top 10 teams in the latest AP Poll, and several of the conference’s teams should be in prime position to make the 12-team Playoff.

SEC Network analysts Cole Cubelic and Roman Harper recently decided to rank the top 5 teams in the conference.

Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia appeared on both Cubelic and Harper’s lists, albeit in different spots.

The analysts disagreed on the 5th-best team, with Cubelic choosing Missouri and Harper choosing Oklahoma.

Cubelic had Alabama at No. 1, Texas at No. 2, Tennessee at No. 3, Georgia at No. 4, and Missouri at No. 5.

Harper had Texas at No. 1, Alabama at No. 2, Georgia at No. 3, Tennessee at No. 4, and Oklahoma at No. 5.

Cubelic was surprised to see Harper, who played at Alabama, have the Tide at No. 2.

“They (Alabama) handled their business. They took care of the Bulldogs, even after a furious comeback,” said Cubelic. “And, they’ve gotten better and better each week.”

Harper, meanwhile, disagreed with Cubelic’s assessment of the Tide.

“Look, it was a great win,” Harper said. “But there were a lot of highs and a lot of lows in that game, and when I went back and broke down the film, it was uglier than we would like it to be.”

Notably, neither analyst included Ole Miss or LSU in their top 5. It will be interesting to see if anything happens in Week 6 to alter the rankings going forward.
