SEC Network ranks the SEC's Top 5 WR corps for 2016
As the 2016 football season draws ever closer, the SEC Network is taking a look at some of the conference’s best units.
In a segment on Wednesday, analyst Chris Doering ranked the five best wide receiver corps in the conference, with the SEC West showing off its dominance:
5. LSU Tigers
4. Arkansas Razorbacks
3. Ole Miss Rebels
2. Texas A&M Aggies
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Doering says in the video that it was tough picking between the Aggies and the Crimson Tide for the No. 1 spot:
“It’s splitting hairs when we get to No. 1 and No. 2,” he said.
The Aggies, he explained, are led by a guy who can hurt defenses in many ways:
“So many weapons, led by Christian Kirk, who I feel is the most dynamic player in the entire conference. He gets the ball in a number of different ways,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Tide get the edge because of their depth:
“The Crimson Tide have the best receiving corps in my opinion, led by Calvin Ridley,” he said. “O.J. Howard, we saw him in that national championship game — they need to utilize him more.”
One thing the Aggies have going that the Tide don’t is stability at the quarterback position. Oklahoma transfer Trevor Knight is expected to lead Texas A&M. Alabama, on the other hand, has yet to name a starter.
Its so close between Bama and A&M. Ridley is a stud. Stewart and Howard are really good, and Deiter is a very nice graduate transfer for Bama. But I would probably have to give the slight advantage to the A&M quadruplets of Kirk, Noil, Seals-Jones, and Reynolds. So much talent with those four. Also, A&M’s receivers will benefit from catching passes from Knight, who is better than whoever wins the Bama job.
Everything said as if it’s set in stone. Got to love it..
Rebels have the deepest WR core in America. They are SO SO loaded for now and for the future.
Nope. Bama and A&M’s WR’s are better. I’d put OM, LSU, and Arky in the same group as far as WR talent goes.
BTW, when did the TE start being mentioned as part of the WR core?
No idea on the TE. Not every team uses the TE as a viable target.
Tackman in 3.2.1…..
Bamatime in -1 if that’s the case
1: tamu by far
2: lsu and Bama tied
4: arky
5: ole pi$$
LMAO ^^^
It wasn’t two days ago you said TAMU has the best in the country and LSU is top ten with nobody else being close…..You just randomly make up $hit as you go….LMAO
I said lsu has an argument for top ten, didn’t say anything about Bama. Bama has the best wr in the sec but no other really good wr’s. Lsu has two very very good wr’s but no other good wr’s. It’s about even but lsu gets the edge of I had to choose.
How do you figure? First off the TE is included. Second Stewart has 700 yards from last season, Howard 600 and they just brought in a Grad transfer from bowling green with over 1k yards last season. None of that is even taking into account Sims, and young talent……..Now let me he’d you again. You said LSU had and argument for top 10 and nobody else was close. I guess you changed your mind?
Help*
Tight ends are not included in this article. It says “wr corps”. Learn to read.
Yes please learn to read as they actually include a TE in the article…..Dumba$$
What good are lsu receivers when you don’t have a QB? That’s why Chad Kelly makes UM corp the top in the SEC- Just wait till y’all see QA out there this year, he’s a man.
We have a veteran qb that was top half of the sec in passing last year. If that’s bad, how bad is bama’s position? They haven’t even picked a starter yet, and none of the choices are as good as Harris.
You know this how? Bama hadn’t picked a starter last season….How did Jake do?
Harris stat line is very weak for an SEC QB and he finished 7th in the SEC. Who cares how good your WR corps is if you only throw 13 TDs??

Until LSU finds a quarterback, it’s wasted talent at WR. Don’t deserve to be on this list.
That makes no sense. Why does the qb matter when it’s a wr list?
Because it’s not like RB, WR’s depend on the QB’s ability to throw the ball.
Arkansas returns 5 receivers that caught for over 300 yds and 3 TDs. LSU doesn’t and therefore should be ranked ahead of Arkansas’.
1. TAMU
2. Bama
3. Arky or Ole Miss
5. LSU
LSU has two very talented guys but it’s still really only 2 guys.
Soooo Bama has one really talented guy, ole pi$$ and arky don’t have any, where does that put them?
Arky isnt the best in the SEC, but returning starting WR/TE – Reed -535yds, Morgan-843yds, Hatcher-198yds (only played in 2 games),Sprinkle-389yds (option 2 TE to Henry). I don’t know a QB in the SEC that wouldn’t want this group.
He doesn’t use stats. He just makes it up. He keeps saying Bama has one guy but Stewart has more yards than the top LSU reciever.
1 TAM
2 Bama
3 Arkansas
4 LSU
5 Ole Miss
I would agree
1 TAMU
2 LSU slightly over Tide (better depth)
3 Tide slightly over Rebs (Rebs no proven stud but talented
4 Ole Miss
5 Arky.
Seems like a lot of these other sites and people who do these things for a living don’t agree with a lot of your assessments do they?
Ole Miss lost its top two receivers, Arkansas returns five that caught for 300 and 3+TDS and you put ole miss ahead of Arkansas. Ridiculous
Ole Miss won’t miss a beat at WR with Adeboyejo and Stringfellow – and watch out for RS freshman Van Jefferson, So DeMarkus Lodge- They will both have over 500 yards and don’t forget about our all -sec/ all-america tight end Engram. And we have the QB to get it to them.. UM will be fine. These pre-seaon list are BS and nothing more than click bait.
Let’s all just remain calm time will tell. The SEC got some bad boys.
