Here’s a look at some eye-popping stats and historical context entering Week 7 for select games. This week, we focus on the three ranked matchups in the SEC.

No. 10 ALABAMA at No. 9 TEXAS A&M

The Crimson Tide defense is ranked 1st in the SEC and 5th nationally in total defense, only allowing 264.5 yards per game. Maybe more impressively, Alabama is tied for 1st in the FBS in three-and-outs per game (6.83), recording one in 41 of 92 opponent drives this season, an amazing 44.6 percent of drives.

SCHOOL AVG THREE-AND-OUTS PER GAME PCT OF TOTAL DRIVES
1. Alabama 6.83 44.6%
2. Marshall 6.83 44.6%
3. Clemson 6.80 46.6%
4. Duke 6.17 45.7%
5. Boise State 6.17 41.6%

RB Derrick Henry will look to extend the Alabama record for consecutive games with a touchdown. He broke the record last week with his 11th straight game with a score. He’ll look to pad his lead today against the Aggies. Here’s the updated list:

NAME CONSECUTIVE GAMES WITH TD SEASONS
Derrick Henry 11 2014-present
Terry Davis 10 1971-72
Johnny Musso 8 1970-71
Bobby Marlow 8 1950-51

How big of a game is this for Kyle Field? It’s just the sixth matchup involving AP top 10 teams that the stadium has ever seen. Texas A&M has lost three of the previous five matchups, including each of the last two by a combined 8 points.

No. 7 Alabama’s 59-0 win over No. 21 Texas A&M last season was the 2nd-largest defeat in Aggies history. It was also 4 points shy of the largest margin of victory over an AP Top 25 team.

No. 8 FLORIDA at No. 6 LSU

Florida and LSU have had some memorable battles, especially recently. This will be the fifth time that both teams go into the game ranked in the top 10 in the nation, and all five games have come during the Les Miles era at LSU. Florida has fared well, winning three of those four matchups.

Florida coach Jim McElwain has gotten off to an impressive 6-0 start. McElwain joined Charles Bachman and Galen Hall as the only Gators head coaches to begin their career at UF 6-0. Here’s a look at some superlatives by Florida coaches:

RECORD MARK COACH(ES)
Most Wins 9 Meyer, Spurrier, Hall, Graves
Best Win Pct .888 Bachman (1928)
SEC Wins 6 Zook (2002), Spurrier (1990)

There’s been a lot of talk between Florida and LSU’s players when it comes to “DBU” or “Defensive Back University.” Well, since 2007, LSU leads the nation in number of defensive backs selected in the NFL Draft with 13. Alabama is the next closest with 12. Plus, the Tigers have produced a defensive back selection in eight of the last nine drafts, and a total of 10 former LSU defensive backs are on current NFL rosters after Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season, most of any college in the nation.

And we’ve been giving Leonard Fournette a lot of attention, but what about this Derrius Guice guy last week? LSU’s true freshman running back went for a game-high 161 rushing yards last week against South Carolina. That’s the most by a Tigers true freshman RB since Justin Vincent ran for 201 against Georgia in the 2003 SEC title game.

No. 13 OLE MISS at MEMPHIS

The scoreboard may have a hard time keeping up with the fireworks we can potentially see when Ole Miss visits Memphis. The Rebels are averaging 46.8 points per game, which is 5th in the FBS, but the Tigers are right ahead of them at 4th with an average of 47.8 per game although they’ve played one fewer game.

SCHOOL POINTS PER GAME GAMES PLAYED

2. Texas Tech 52.7 6
3. TCU 51.0 6
4. Memphis 47.8 5
5. Ole Miss 46.8 6

Senior RB Jaylen Walton is only 183 all-purpose yards away from surpassing Dexter McCluster for 2nd-most in Rebels history.
