SEC Penalty Report: Week 1
As we move through the 2016 football season, we’ll be giving a rundown of each SEC team’s penalty statistics at the conclusion of each week’s games.
With it being Week 1, it’s hard to correlate penalty data with whether or not it affects a team’s ability to win. But as it turns out, the SEC’s least-penalized teams happened to prevail this week. Alabama and Arkansas drew the fewest flags in the league with four apiece, but the Crimson Tide had a much easier victory.
Only four SEC teams had more than six penalties during this first week of game play, and no team had penalties in the double digits. Five of the 14 teams were able to keep their penalty yardage under 50.
