Who made our list of SEC studs and duds in Week 10? Let’s find out.

STUDS

1. Matt Jones/Kelvin Taylor: Florida’s tailback tandem tore apart the Georgia defense Saturday, rushing 50 times for 389 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-20 victory in Jacksonville. Taylor had rushed for only 200 yards in six games prior to rushing for 197 against UGA, and Jones had rushed for 100 yards only twice in six games as the starting tailback before rushing for 192 against the Bulldogs. The two backs had combined for just five touchdowns on the year before adding four more against Georgia in Florida’s biggest win since 2012.

2. Shane Ray: Missouri’s star defensive end improved his case for SEC Defensive Player of the Year with five tackles and two sacks in a 20-10 win over Kentucky. He now has 12 sacks in nine games this season, which leads the SEC and marks a new school record for sacks in a single season. Ray controlled the line of scrimmage all game and helped silence a normally stout UK rushing attack, helping lead Mizzou back to the top of the SEC East standings with the victory.

3. Pharoh Cooper: Cooper did a little bit of everything in South Carolina’s loss to Tennessee on Saturday — throwing for a touchdown, rushing for a touchdown and catching a touchdown pass on the evening. He totaled 286 yards of offense, including 233 as a receiver, and kept South Carolina alive as its defense was torched by Josh Dobbs and the Tennessee offense. The Gamecocks fell in overtime, but they needed every bit of Cooper’s impressive showing to score 42 points and force the extra period.

DUDS

1. Patrick Towles: Towles threw for 390 yards and rushed for 76 in a close loss to Mississippi State two weeks ago, which makes his pathetic showing against Missouri last weekend even more puzzling. The sophomore threw for just 158 yards and ran for just 26 in the loss to Mizzou, marking one of his worst performances of the season. As a team, Kentucky only managed 258 yards of total offense, and Towles was intercepted in the loss for the first time since September.

2. Jonathan Williams: Williams was dynamic in Arkansas’ win over UAB two weeks ago, but he was silenced by Mississippi State’s defense in Saturday’s 17-10 loss in Starkville. The junior rushed for just 47 yards on 15 carries, barely averaging three yards per carry in a losing effort. His teammate, Alex Collins, ran for 93 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, proving Williams deserves much of the blame for his lackluster outing. The Hogs’ two-headed rushing attack was missing one of its heads Saturday, and it cost them dearly in a seven-point defeat.

3. Georgia’s defense: Georgia’s defense was inexcusably bad in an embarrassing loss to Florida in Jacksonville. The Bulldogs allowed the Gators to rush for more than 400 yards, exceeding their previous season high by 159 yards. The Dawgs also allowed Florida to score 38 points, the most points UF has scored in an SEC game this season. Florida had its way with the UGA defense, taking Georgia’s stout rushing attack out of the equation as the Gators’ lead grew larger on the scoreboard. Following a humiliating loss that might cost Georgia a division title, the defense deserves the brunt of the blame.
