According to Forbes, research company TiqIQ, which tracks the most expensive average ticket prices across college football, tickets to SEC games this season have the highest resale value of any league in the country.
Should that come as a surprise?
Winners of seven of the last eight national championships and the nation’s leader in annual attendance, eight of the league’s 14 teams are nationally-ranked entering the 2014 campaign and three schools — Georgia, Alabama and LSU — place in the Top 10 for most expensive average ticket.
Georgia leads the way (third overall) with a season average of $209 per game on the secondary market. Several SEC schools have sold out of all their season ticket and single-game allotments including Auburn and Ole Miss.
Let’s take a look at average secondary market individual ticket prices across four major online brokers for the SEC’s biggest opening weekend games. Prices tend to fluctuate closer to kickoff for various circumstances, but these are as close to what you may pay as we could determine.
Prices include additional online service fees. Outliers exceeding the reasonable high-end norm were thrown out.
