Social media rips one aspect of the SEC's preseason media poll
The SEC preseason poll brought out the same reaction from fans and media when it was revealed that Vanderbilt received a first-place vote.
Of course, Vanderbilt is in the midst of a long rebuilding mode under Clark Lea, and the Commodores are on a 21-game losing streak in the SEC. Another aspect of the vote referred to Lea’s comment about building Vanderbilt into the best program in the country.
“We know that in time Vanderbilt football will be the best program in the country. … There are no cheat codes, no shortcuts, no hacks that’ll allow this to happen over night. This is still about going the long, hard way,” Lea said from the main podium at SEC Media Days.
Here’s a sample of the reaction:
Vanderbilt got an SEC champion vote, but the conference will continue to brag about how many people it credentials at media days.

LSU was picked to finish fifth in the SEC West by the media this week. But Vanderbilt also got a championship vote. So.

Clark Lea said earlier this week that Vanderbilt would become the best football program in America, and evidently, someone believed him.
The Commodores received one vote to win the 2022 SEC Championship.

I need to know who gave Vanderbilt a first-place vote.
I need to know if their hand slipped or they were high or they just didn’t understand the question. https://t.co/rv3Zual7FT
