With less than a month before the first official rankings of the College Football Playoff, a sportsbook has come out with hypothetical betting lines about the national championship game.

The contenders are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and LSU. But the sportsbook SportsBetting.ag has pegged Alabama and Clemson the favorites if they were to reach the national championship, according to a tweet from SportsTalkSC.

  • Alabama -3 vs. Clemson
  • Clemson -4.5 vs. Georgia
  • Clemson -2.5 vs. Ohio State
  • Clemson -6 vs. Oklahoma
  • Clemson -7 vs. LSU

Those are widely viewed as the teams most likely to reach the CFP, however, many of them have tough games ahead, starting with Oklahoma against Texas this week.

Alabama, of course, still has games ahead with LSU and Auburn in November, while Auburn also plays Georgia, and LSU and Auburn meet in Baton Rouge. All that is before another titanic clash in the SEC Championship game that could serve as another elimination game for the CFP.

There is some talk about getting two SEC teams into the CFP, however, that could prove to be difficult if Ohio State, Oklahoma and Clemson win out. Then there’s also the talk about strength of schedule, especially between Clemson and Oklahoma, which are expected to have a shortage of top 25 wins, even if they’re undefeated.
