Spring break down south: Oregon coaches visit Alabama, Georgia practices to prepare for Week 1 game vs. Auburn
The Oregon Ducks will take on the Auburn Tigers in Week 1 of the 2019 season, with the game set to be played in Arlington, Texas.
The Ducks are in spring practice right now, but they have a bit of a break. To make the most of that break, coach Mario Cristobal has taken his assistants on a trip.
This isn’t a typical spring break outing, though. Instead, according to OregonLive.com, Cristobal took his staff to visit with the Alabama and Georgia coaching staffs as they go through their spring practices:
Cristobal brought the entire Oregon coaching staff to Tuscaloosa to attend Alabama’s practice and meet with the Crimson Tide coaching staff on Monday and then headed to Athens, Ga. to meet with Georgia’s coaching staff and attend the Bulldogs’ first spring practice, according to a source with knowledge of the staff’s trip.
Cristobal was a member of the Alabama coaching staff from 2013 to 2016, overlapping with Georgia coach Kirby Smart as they both worked under Nick Saban.
Those are Auburn’s biggest rivals, too, so both will probably be happy to share their knowledge about the Tigers.
Let’s hope this did not make Auburn mad. Georgia always likes to please them if we can.
Same with Bama. We really worry about hurting their feelings.
Hope both helped. Would love to see that fan base implode when their over priced offensive genius starts 0-1. The excuses will be abundant and this will be one of them. The downside is that one of the four losses will filled already.
Awesome!
Gotta love Christobal going out and getting the knowledge from their foes to show them up.
We’re young in some skills areas but Christobal and his staff do get the best out of his players.
Ducks looking good! I wouldn’t want them on my schedule now that we have Avalos from Boise St as DC.
Now hopefully Arroyo changes up a bit and opens up the offense.
Have a great season guys
As bad as I can see Auburn being this year, I still have little faith that Oregon is much better. PAC12 is easily the worst conference (ACC bailed out by Clemson) in the country and Oregon should be a shoe in for conference championship for the near future. I remember the last time Oregon scheduled a regular season game against an SEC opponent and LSU destroyed them. That was back when Oregon was good and the conference wasn’t a dumpster fire. I don’t have a dog in this fight so hopefully it is at the very least an entertaining game.
No one on the Plains is looking past Oregon. Herbert is a legit QB. Plenty of returning starters on O-line and Defense. Aside from losing Mitchell (WR) to NFL, not much drop off at skill positions. Cristobal (year 2) won 9 games last year. He knows Gus’ system very well from his time at Bama. This will be a big game on a big stage to jump start the season for both programs.
