Stephen F. Austin entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 14 seed, losing to No. 3 Texas Tech in a hard-fought 70-60 game on Thursday.

After the loss, though, SFA coach Kyle Keller wasn’t happy, and decided to go on a bizarre rant during which he blamed millennials for his team’s loss.

As you can see below, he says his players — who are millennials — don’t watch enough college basketball, which meant they were unprepared for Texas Tech (via USA TODAY):

“…the Millennials today, they don’t even watch college basketball,’’ he said Thursday night after Stephen F. Austin lost to Texas Tech in the first round of the NCAA tournament. “A lot of our guys didn’t even know who those cats (Texas Tech players) were because they don’t watch the game. They’re on their phone and doing that kind of stuff.

“I hate to say it, but as much as you or I or anybody in here watches the games, they don’t. Or the NBA. They might watch the slam-dunk contest in February on TNT or whatever, but that’s about the extent of it.”

Obviously, after a loss, Keller’s rant comes off as sour grapes. And, he needs to watch his words, because he’s going to need these millennials to help him keep his job.

If he can’t connect with the younger generation, it’s a safe bet that he won’t be in the coaching game for much longer.
