Steve Spurrier played and coached at Florida, winning a Heisman Trophy in 1966 and coaching the Gators to a title in 1996.

However, he also has a deep connection to Duke, where he coached from 1987 to 1989. His son, Steve Spurrier Jr., also played at Duke.

Now, that Blue Devil connection is continuing, as Spurrier’s grandson, Gavin, announced on Saturday that he’d be playing at Duke next year:

Gavin Spurrier has yet to be rated by 247Sports or any of the major recruiting services, and will join the Blue Devils as a walk-on.

The Duke connection runs deep with the Spurrier family, so you can bet the Head Ball Coach will be keeping an eye on things in Durham.
