Cancer doesn’t care who you are, affecting people young and old, male and female and people of all fitness levels.

Still, it’s always surprising and sad when a young person gets diagnosed with cancer, as was the case with Syracuse QB Rex Culpepper on Saturday.

According to a post on his Instagram page, Culpepper said he was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in May, but now he has had more tests and the cancer has spread elsewhere in his body:

Obviously, having the cancer spread is terrible news for Culpepper, but he seems upbeat, saying his doctors say it is still very treatable.

He says he’ll return to the field soon, and we, along with the rest of the country, will be rooting for a full recovery for the sophomore quarterback, who completed 45 passes for 518 yards and two touchdowns last season.
