Tennessee at Alabama delivers season's best ratings for 'SEC on CBS'
Tennessee at Alabama had plenty of excitement to draw an audience, from the Vols’ 1st half, to the Crimson Tide’s 2nd half, and victory.
The game drew the largest audience for the “SEC on CBS” this season, as it topped 8 million to finish second in Week 8 behind Penn State at Ohio State on FOX Sports, which pulled in 9.96 million.
Other notable SEC games on Saturday were Ole Miss’ win over Auburn on ESPN, which drew 1.8 million, and Mississippi State’s narrow win over Arkansas on ESPN, which pulled in 1.22 million.
These large audiences continue to surpass last year’s audiences. The Tide’s win was the 13th game this season to average at least 7 million viewers, compared to last year’s regular season total of 10, according to Sports Media Watch.
Overall, 5 games this season have averaged at least 9 million viewers, more than last year’s regular season total of 4.
College football ratings page updated for week eight. In addition to PSU-OSU and Tennessee-Alabama, Duke-FSU ranked a distant third for the week.
