Tennessee-Florida game ends in wild scuffle between players

Florida downed Tennessee at The Swamp Saturday evening to extend their win streak at home against Tennessee to at least 22 years by the time Tennessee comes to town in 2025.

The rivalry matchup between the Gators and Vols came with some drama Saturday night, too. Tennessee’s Omari Thomas hit Florida QB Graham Mertz with a cheap shot at the end of the game, prompting some reaction from a few Gators players. Tennessee came to Thomas’ defense and chaos ensued:

It really was just a bizarre situation all around. The only reason that was allowed to happen in the first place is because Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel called a timeout with 9 seconds remaining down a pair of scores.

Florida is truly an enigma right now. The Gators played their gameplan to perfection and even when Tennessee stiffened up in the 2nd half, was able to use a first half cushion to walk away with a win. The Vols looked truly dreadful in the first half.

And for Tennessee, that finish perfectly sums up the Vols’ night in Gainesville.
