A Tennessee man has been charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect as well as contributing to the delinquency of a child after allegedly forcing his son to drink until he passed out. According to officers the boy, 15, was found in the back seat of a truck, passed out. The officers said the boy was unresponsive and had no pulse so they performed CPR until paramedics arrived on the scene.

According to witnesses at the house, the boy’s father, Mark Allen Hughes, forced him to play a drinking game during the Tennessee vs. Oklahoma game as punishment for underage drinking. When witnesses tried to intervene, Hughes began to fight back. When police arrived, they said that Hughes was clearly under the influence of alcohol, screaming at witnesses, and had to be restrained.

From WLTX:

“We’re going to prosecute it to the fullest,” said Sweetwater Police Chief Eddie Byrum, “We’d like to use this as an example where if anybody else is out there and thinks this is how they’re going to govern their children or direct them, we will put a stop to it.”
