Tennessee and Ole Miss are 2 of the schools that are in the running to land elite cornerback transfer Thaddeus Dixon out of the transfer portal.
Dixon, a former Washington cornerback, entered the portal after the regular season. On Monday night, Dixon revealed the 4 teams that he is considering, while leaving open the possibility of returning to Washington.
Tennessee, Ole Miss, North Carolina, and Michigan are the final schools on Dixon’s list.
Dixon is a California native who starred for Paramount High School. The CB began his college career at Long Beach City College before transferring to Washington for the 2023 season.
For the Huskies in 2024, Dixon collected 43 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 interception. In total, Dixon played in 27 games at Washington and ended his tenure with 69 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 INTs, and 1 forced fumble. The CB is rated as the best CB remaining in the transfer portal according to 247Sports.
Ole Miss has seen 5 defensive backs enter the portal so far. Louis Moore, Jadon Canady, AJ Brown, Trip White, and Key Lawrence have all jumped into the portal with Lawrence and Moore already committing to new schools. Tennessee, meanwhile, saw depth DB Christian Harrison enter the portal. Dixon’s interest in North Carolina could be related to the hiring of Bill Belichick. Dixon played for Belichick’s son Stephen at Washington in 2023.
In 2024, the Rebels had the No. 86 passing defense in the nation while the Volunteers had the No. 30 unit. Dixon’s Huskies, meanwhile, finished No. 4 in passing defense, allowing just 166.5 passing yards per game in 2024.
Bryce Lazenby covers college football for Saturday Down South. A Nashville native, his previous stops include FanSided, Dimers, and The Leaf-Chronicle.
