There are plenty of times when fans can argue about targeting calls and subsequent ejections in SEC games.

There was no doubt about the vicious hit on South Carolina WR Pharoh Cooper on Saturday. Tennessee defensive back Brian Randolph, a fifth-year senior, lined him up and nailed him hard with a helmet-to-helmet hit.

Randolph was penalized and ejected. Cooper wasn’t even near the ball when Randolph made the hit on an underthrown ball. Cooper was able to walk back to the sideline after being checked out by medical personnel.

He went through concussion protocol and returned to the game on the next series.
