Texas and Oklahoma were originally scheduled to join the SEC in time for the 2025 season. Just recently, it was reported that talks about having the 2 schools leave the Big 12 a year early to join their new league had stalled.

Perhaps that was just a negotiation tactic, as it was revealed on Thursday night that a deal had been reached and the Longhorns and Sooners would join the SEC in 2024 after all.

This means the 2023 season will be the only Big 12 football season with Texas, Oklahoma, UCF, Cincinnati, BYU and Houston all in the conference.

We’ll see what the Sooners and Longhorns are able to accomplish in their last go-round in the Big 12. One thing is for sure — every team on their schedules will be trying to send them to the SEC with a loss.
