The 2020 college football season is officially here.

The seventh annual Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff featuring Austin Peay vs. Central Arkansas will air on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET. Matt Barrie and Mike Golic, Jr. will call the action in studio from Bristol, while reporter Lauren Sisler will be live from the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.

This weekend was originally scheduled to be Week 0 at the FBS level, but with the COVID-19 pandemic altering plans, the FCS showdown is getting the primetime treatment on the World Wide Leader.

In 2019, Austin Peay went 11-4, ending its season with an FCS playoff loss to Montana State. Central Arkansas went 9-4, falling in the opening round to Illinois State University. Central Arkansas is favored by 5 points according to Vegas Insider.

Austin Peay head coach Marquase Lovings has ties to the SEC. Lovings grew up and went to high school in Gainesville, Florida. He got his coaching start at Mississippi State, as a quality control assistant from 2007-08 and then a defensive graduate assistant from 2009-10.

Next Thursday, Sept. 3, the FBS season is scheduled to get underway as Southern Miss will take on South Alabama.
