Following an outstanding weekend of projections, The Power Rank is back with its Week 3 predictions.

If you are unfamiliar with this system, it is the brainchild of Ed Feng’s analytics system, known better as The Power Rank. Feng’s metrics used have accurately predicted the winners of college football games from the 2015 season to the 2017 season 73.7 percent of the time — with an overall record of 1679-598. That number is even more impressive when you factor in that The Power Rank does not pick FBS games against FCS competition.

The Power Rank accurately predicted the winners in nine of 10 SEC matchups for Week 2.

Here is how The Power Rank predicts the Week 3 action to play out in the SEC between FBS competition:

  • Mississippi State is projected to beat Kansas State by 4.9 points in Starkville. Hail State has a 64 percent chance of winning this matchup.
  • Florida is projected to beat Kentucky by 0.4 points in Lexington. The Wildcats have a 49 percent chance of winning this matchup.
  • Alabama is projected to beat South Carolina by 14.3 points in Columbia. The Gamecocks have a 15 percent chance of winning this matchup.
  • Georgia is projected to beat Arkansas State by 22.2 points in Athens. The Bulldogs have a 94 percent chance of winning this matchup.
  • Arkansas is projected to beat Colorado State by 8.1 points in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks have a 73 percent chance of winning this matchup.
  • Auburn is projected to beat Kent State by 28.9 points on The Plains. The Tigers have a 97 percent chance of winning this matchup.
