If you were unaware, FCS football is currently being played this spring after pushing its football from the fall due to COVID.

Now with FCS football having an opportunity to gain more attention than ever, you’d think some increased exposure would be good for the likes of Youngstown State and the Missouri Valley Football Conference. You’d be wrong.

Over the weekend, Youngstown State Director of Player Personnel Tim Johnson was highlighted for the wrong reason. During the game against Northern Iowa, Johnson delivered a cheap shot to an opposing player on the sideline.

Now Youngstown State and the Missouri Valley Football Conference have banned Johnson from being on the sideline for the rest of the season.

Johnson issued a statement following his ban:

“I apologize to UNI, Youngstown State, the Missouri Valley Football Conference and our community for what occurred on Saturday. As a member of the YSU Football staff, my actions are held in high regard and that should have never occurred. Again, I deeply apologize to all who have been impacted by my actions.”

Here is a clip of the play if you missed it.
