Tom Allen will not be coaching in the SEC next season.

Allen’s name has been mentioned, among the many others, that could be headed to the SEC as three programs in the league are currently searching for their next head coach. The Indiana coach led his program to an 8-4 record this season — which is the best record in 26 years for IU.

Following that success, Indiana has given Allen a new seven-year deal with an average annual compensation of $3.9 million.

Allen previously served as Ole Miss linebacker coach from 2012 to 2014.

It’s unclear how serious any SEC program may have been to hiring Allen but considering how quickly after the season Indiana locked him down to an extension, there likely was some truth to the speculation.

His record at Indiana is 18-19 after four seasons.
