Recruiting top talent out of junior colleges is a constant in the Southeastern Conference. Plenty of excellent prospects have come to SEC programs and played at a high level out of the JUCO ranks.

So where are the top junior college hotbeds that SEC programs recruit from? Well, they primarily come from the big three states for JUCO football — Mississippi, Kansas and California. The Magnolia State leads the way with 46 top 100 JUCO signees to SEC programs between the classes of 2013-16. Kansas had 25 and California 14.

Given that the state of Mississippi has an entrenched junior college system with football and given its geographic proximity (right in the heart of the SEC), it’s no surprise that that state leads the way in that category.

Here are the top five individual junior college programs in terms of top 100 SEC signees from 2013-16.

1. East Mississippi Community College: 13
2. Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College: 10
3. (tie) Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Junior College: 8
3. (tie) Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College: 8
5. Georgia Military College: 6

East Mississippi has produced players like Chad Kelly, the quarterback for Ole Miss, and Alabama defensive end Jarran Reed in recent cycles, so it comes as no surprise that EMCC leads the way.
