Trouble afoot? AAF sold to new owner after only one week of action

The new Alliance of American Football has now played two weeks of games, but after only one week, the league got a new owner.
According to business reporter Darren Rovell, Carolina Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon paid $250 million for the league and is now the owner and chairman of the AAF.
Why the sudden sale? Per Rovell, the league missed payroll in Week 1, meaning players still haven’t been paid for their Week 1 work:

The AAF missed payroll in Week 1. They told agents that it was a glitch with switching to a new administrator. They told players would be paid by today the latest.

That emergency influx of cash will help the league pay its players and coaches, but you have to wonder how financially viable the AAF is if it is already encountering money woes.
Can it last beyond this inaugural season? Right now, things are looking dicey.
