Two former 4-star defensive linemen will transfer from South Carolina, according to a 247Sports report.

Sophomore Dexter Wideman, the No. 7 defensive tackle from the 2014 class, and Stephon Taylor, the No. 29 defensive tackle from the 2016 class, will both seek new schools.

During a media appearance at a Spurs Up tour event on Tuesday, coach Will Muschamp confirmed that Wideman would transfer to South Carolina State and Taylor would attend a school closer to his Louisiana home:

“They want another opportunity,” Muschamp said. “Stephon wanted to get closer to home. We think a lot of both young men.”

Wideman recorded one tackle in one game (against Mississippi State) last season, while Taylor redshirted in 2016 — his only season with the Gamecocks.
