On Monday, the three finalists for the Bednarik Award were announced.

Among the three finalists were Alabama DL Jonathan Allen and Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett. The pair of SEC stars was joined by Michigan LB Jabril Peppers.

Allen has been a star for the No. 1 Crimson Tide, recording seven sacks and two touchdowns for the Alabama defense.

Garrett, after recording 4.5 sacks on Saturday against UTSA, now has 8.5 sacks on the season.

Tennessee fans may be a bit miffed at the list, and with good reason. Vols DE Derek Barnett, who has 11 sacks to Garrett’s 8.5, was left off the list.
