UCF announces 'national championship' parade which will be held day before National Championship Game
The UCF Knights are claiming that they’re the real national champions following a 13-0 season and a victory over Auburn in the Peach Bowl.
However, the National Championship Game has still yet to be played, as Alabama and Georgia will square off for the College Football Playoff trophy in Atlanta on Monday night.
That isn’t stopping the Knights’ “victory” tour, though, as they will literally go to Disney World and hold a victory parade on Sunday afternoon:

It is a bit ironic that the victory parade will take place the day before the title game, but that won’t stop UCF from continuing to flaunt their claimed championship.
When will it all end? That remains to be seen, but either Alabama or Georgia won’t be too happy with UCF claiming their actual championship this time next week.
Neither UGA nor Bama care what these clowns are doing. They are turning a great season into a laughingstock.
Much like you and your post.
I like it, you go undefeated in anything, and if you want to call yourselves the champs…..by all means do it, a very fine bunch of young men at UCF.
Just as UCF doesn’t care about the outcome of Monday night’s farce. It would be best if Georgia wins to have a unified SEC champ.
I’m a Floridian and I agree. Seems to be a trend: if you don’t like the outcome of a contest/game/competition/election, simply change the narrative to the one you want.
It’s not like UCF or any team that’s not in the super duper awesome power 5 conferences had any say in the set up.
That was bought and paid for by ESPN. They’ve managed to produce a second SEC Championship game. That’s about it, as they excluded 2 of the 5 power 5 conferences, one of which went 7-1 in bowl season. While the SEC is guaranteed to have a losing bowl record.
Those cute l’il Knights!
Yea playing a schedule that includes Temple, FIU, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Navy, Austin Peay, SMU and Connecticut really qualifies you to be a top 4 team? I don’t doubt UCF is a pretty good team but if you played 12 regular season games against top Big 5 schools with athletes that challenge you week and week out, making your team work and get injured and you finish undefeated then sure. But just about any decent team could go undefeated playing that schedule of lower tear teams and have few injuries to show for it. Play a full ACC, SEC, Big 12 or Big Ten schedule, go undefeated then we have something to talk about. But beating an 9-3 SEC team by 7 (great job) but does not make you national champions. It’s a great win but it does not make you a national champion. Sorry
It is impossible for them to play an SEC, ACC, Big10 or Pac12 caliber schedule as is the same for all mid majors. If they will never be allowed to compete for the national championship game then the system is flawed. I don’t have a problem with them claiming a Natty like Bama does for 73′ when they finished the season losing to Notre Poop. There should be the power 5 conferences and a Natty for them since only they are allowed to compete for it and a separate one for the other conferences. Otherwise, UCF beat ranked teams, beat an Auburn team that was going to the playoffs if they didn’t lose to Georgia and went undefeated. Claim that Pseudo Natty UCF!!!
By the way, in 73 Alabama was awarded the championship by the Coaches poll whereas CFU is proclaiming their own championship. But based on that then you probably wouldn’t have a problem with Alabama claiming the 66 championship which is one they don’t claim now even though they went undefeated and beat Nebraska in the Sugar Bowl 34-7. Michigan St and Notredame played to a 10-10 tie and were awarded co champions.
I haven’t looked at the entire schedule but I probably wouldn’t have a problem with it. The Alabama fans might not like it because it might not be as high a standard as some of their other seasons. Here is the judgement fulcrum: There is not, and there never has been, an NCAA football champion for the NCAA Division 1. There is, and there has been for a long time, a college football national championship for the other college divisions. Why is this? Because the member institutions agree on a play-off plan well in advance. More teams participate in the play-off. Cheating still happens but it’s not on the same scale. Also travel during the season is often less demanding therefore the multiple play-off games travel works for students. So everyone knows in advance what they have to do to qualify. But not in the NCAA Division 1. What else do you think UCF should do?, they are members, they went undefeated, and their wins included Auburn ver.17, and the Division 1 has no NCAA play-off plan for them and lots of other members. What a stupid division ! But it serves the self horn blowing wishes of the old bowl paraded social club. And that is what the NCAA Division 1 football division is. It would be easy to clean up, but the SEC, Big 10, the Pac 12, the ACC, and the not so big anymore Lowborn-Sooner Club like not having real competition. They like not having to earn their winning seasons. They like counting wins against institutions that have 1% of their resources…. But just let a couple of them have a great season and we find out real fast how false the D1 champ is. Go for it UCF, it’s just as much yours as it is anyone else who is going to claim. Penn State should have claimed it when they won the Big 10 but Ohio State went anyway. Auburn should have claimed it had they beat you (going 1 and 1 with Georgia) this year.
wolfman….. As usual Wrong again. Division one does award a Football Champion as FCS is Division 1. FBS doesn’t award NCAA championships but the NCAA does recognize the team awarded…. I thought you coached in Div 1? You’re so full of $hit.
Well, they could join the playoff whenever they decide join a real conference and leave those cupcake conferences alone. But sure, let them stay in their cupcake conference and enjoy their fake championship. Let us know when you’re ready to play with the big boys and win a real championship, UCF.
Join a real conference like the SEC that is guaranteed to have a losing bowl record?
It is not impossible for UCF to play a playoff-caliber schedule at all. Want to compete for a national championship from a mid major? Load up on the non-conference games to show that you can beat the big boys. UCF scheduled Maine, FIU, and Austin Peay for non-conference games. They scheduled Maryland (a perennially bad big 10 team), and unfortunately their game with Georgia tech was cancelled. Replace those first three horrible teams with solid power five teams, and no doubt UCF goes to the playoff with an undefeated season.
Bama played Mercer late in the season. Mighty Mercer!!! And still lost the next week to Auburn. They should just feel lucky they get another shot at the unofficial SEC Championship in Game II.
The irony of having a parade at the make believe kingdom is clearly lost on these folks.
I am not sure what the point is, were they even ranked in the top 10. Nice season, nice win in the Peach Bowl. Don’t embarrass yourselves.
Ranked by whom? By coaches who don’t watch games? Or by sportswriters who cover only their team for the most part? Or by a bunch of academics and coaching has-bins, several of whom have conflicts and have to sit it out and none of whom represent the little guys? Those rankings?
UCF beat Auburn who beat down UGA and Bama at one point. UCF is better. Confirmed.
You can’t be serious huh? Clemson and LSU beat auburn also. and Georgia also at a neutral sight. So that’s their claim to fame? Beating 1 team. Look at the records and compare schedules and wins to any of the 4 in the playoff. If you or any of their fans can offer any reason that they should have been in the final 4 let me know. If you are saying they went undefeated that means teams shouldn’t play a schedule. Those season opener would be done away with cause going undefeated against cupcakes is where it’s at. But the committee rewards playing in big games
Clemson lost other games. The ACC didn’t exactly tear up the bowl season either. LSU lost to Notre Dame. ‘Nuff said.
You are kidding right. If you are a Tennessee fan, you know how tough the SEC schedule is, now look at UCF schedule. They played an Auburn team that had nothing to play for, put them in championship game, they would’ve walked all over them.
First of all, don’t give me the crap Auburn would have beat UCF in a championship game. Auburn doesn’t respect bowl games outside the playoffs? There’s lots of money involved, the team played with a full squad, and played to their potential. Maybe the fans didn’t respect us, I saw about 10% Auburn fans at the game.
But exactly the point Zackery makes, its a no-win situation for a non-power 5 conference team, if they beat a P5 conference team, unless that is the only loss, then that team has too many losses to provide UCF, in this case, the schedule weight. Argument will be, Auburn had 3 other losses, but beat Bama and Georgia.
My solution: 5 power conference champs + 1 group of 5 champ. 6 team playoff like the NFL.
So only about 10% of the crowd was Auburn fans, in a stadium an hour away from Auburn, and yet you still can’t see Auburn didn’t care? We beat 2 #1 teams, were a shoe in for the playoffs and then were overcome by injuries and bloodthirsty dawgs thus spoiling all our hopes. Anybody watching that game could see Auburn had zero motivation. UCF wouldn’t stand a chance if Auburn actually showed up, no one would.
Have you seen the amount of Auburn players jumping to the NFL? Yea that shows me how loyal and vested some of these guys where to playing in a meaningless bowl game. UCF played to prove a point on the other hand Auburn played to finish the season.
The SEC proved in the bowl season they’re not so tough. They are guaranteed to have a losing record. By itself, that calls into question the decision to put two of their teams into the playoff.
Please take the power T off your posts and conceal your identity. Your embarrassing us.
You are as dumb as a rock if you think that poster was serious.
Some of us don’t take this stuff as seriously as you people. I watch football because I enjoy it, not because it really means anything, or is life or death as SEC fans make it out to be.
Come on, guys. UCF is having fun with their Cinderella season, and harming no one. Alabama and Georgia have other things on their minds, and couldn’t care less what the little ol’ AAC champs have to say. And I say, this is good publicity that might cause someone to think for a second about whether UCF deserves placement in a stronger division. Football is supposed to be fun. Competition and rivalries should be fun and healthy, and should make each team want to play their best, always. What’s wrong with any of that? (UCF alum, ’80)
I agree
I agree too, but I hate the “we beat this team that beat or lost to this team.” If that’s the case, do we scrap UGA/Bama for a UCF/Troy final instead? Yojimbo, win a conference game or six and maybe we will even listen to the vols.
Best post , right here, thanks G K.
Auburn fans I just want you to know, this mess is 100% your teams fault lol
Exactly. Now we got to hear the UCF fans crying foul for years to come because Auburn had to go out there and lose that game.
In related news, Canada declares itself leader of the free world.
First of all don’t give me that crap That UCF beat Georgia and Alabama via Auburn. That’s not how it works. Damn you UCF fans are slap retarded.
It’s as good as the hogwash that ESPN is trying to sell. That including two SEC teams in a 4 team “Playoff” is meaningful. Whoever dreamed that one up must work in Academia.
Hillary won the popular vote too, huh but her old, tired, @$$ will be at home on the couch. Trump, Georgia, & Alabama will attend the National Championship game. End of story! Deal with it!
Totally different. UCF is not going to say they won the now meaningless College Football Playoff. That will happen and the new SEC Champ will be crowned. But with so many good teams left out — just as good as the two that are in — that’s all it is.
There are no “rules” for who wins the National Championship. Look it up. The NCAA constitution is silent about that. But the US Constitution specifies the rules for Presidential contests.
This is all your fault Gus.
Meanwhile Scott Frost is gone to a school that actually has a chance to win a REAL national title.
Exactly. Why are anonymous? Because your fellow SEC fans would bash you for being realistic?
Um…what? You think I would care about someone’s opinion of me, especially online? LMAO
Please. I couldn’t care less what a stranger on the internet say about me dude.
Everyone here is anonymous dumba$$..
If UCF is such a power house then why is Frost bailing to a school he knows is a BIG BOY PROGRAM? This looks like a ploy to try and keep Frost from leaving as much as it does anything.
Nebraska is a big boy program? LMAO!!!!!
Freaking typical Aggy BS. Nebraska 4 national titles since your fake one in 1939. Your only title is the same as this UCF joke. Just declared it on your own while about 6 other schools also claimed. Dumbass Aggy
Awwwww the Cornies want to talk about their History channel trophies but their program shriveled up into raisin since then. How cute. Like Rome, Nebraska wasn’t built to last. It’s truly pathetic how t-shirt fans with unequivocal delusions of grandeur, continue this pretentious sense of self, only to be reminded that VHS were out the last time their “school” was relevant.
Amazing to see Gator fans latching on to UCF. I guess thats what happens when your own program sux!
lol They really didn’t have to do all that. Enjoy the season, and leave the champions at heart stuff alone.
I bet it’s being held in fantasyland
Come on SDS, let them have their fun. The school is in Orlando. Going to Disney in early January is about as enjoyable as taking the kids to Target. They had a great year and they outplayed Auburn. Coach Frost is heading to the frozen tundra of Nebraska and UCF will be a trivia question 20 years from now.
And? Just because they beat Auburn and a bunch of cupcake schools, that makes them national champs? Um…no. If they want to be taken seriously, they need to schedule better teams or dump their cupcake conference and join a Power 5 conference and go undefeated against real competition if they think they they’re so big and bad. Join the SEC and play Georgia and Alabama or the ACC and play Clemson, Miami, and Notre Dame or the Big 12 and play Oklahoma.
OR they can stay in the American conference and never play for an actual national title because their schedule blows. Anyone can go undefeated when you’re playing only 2 teams there are decent and the other 10 games are against glorified high school teams. Anyone can claim national champs if they want but the only one that will matter is the one the NCAA will recognize and that will be the winner of the UGA-Alabama game next Monday. This UCF team will be old news in a few years when they start finishing 5-7 or 4-8 against mediocre competition in the American.
1205, this is the problem when you exclude so many teams from the dance. Alabama and Georgia both lost to Auburn. UCF beat Auburn and gets credit in this system for those two wins on top of their undefeated season. It’s as good as the stupid system that ESPN bought.
LSU beat Auburn too but they lost to Troy. That’s just like say Troy can claim national champs just because they beat LSU, who beat Auburn, who beat Alabama and Georgia.
Maybe we should throw UCF and Troy together and see who will be the national champs!11!!!11!1
Not to mention, let’s completely forget that UGA destroyed Auburn in the SEC championship game to get where they are now. My point is, you have no argument when 10 of your opponents are horrible. UCF’s SOS is like 77th. Going undefeated against that schedule is NOT impressive. Maybe it is to Group of 5 schools but not to Power 5 schools. UCF earned a conference championship and a Peach Bowl win. Congrats for the little school in Orlando. A national championship? You have to be high on something to think they deserve a Natty after their “tough” schedule.
I’ll use a good old southern phrase: “Bless their hearts.” if they want a trophy, they can have the Peoples National Championship trophy we got in 2004. LOL!
Well, Kev, they beat you, and you beat Bama and Georgia. Are you saying those wins were flukes? That you didn’t really beat those two teams? Scoreboard, baby!!
But you lost twice and they didn’t lose at all. So they’re the champs.
And Monday night, the SEC Champion will be settled again. Well, it will be if Georgia wins. Once and for all, finally.
Congrats to the Knights!!
did everything they could. They won all their games. They beat Auburn, who beat the two participants in the SEC Championship II. So they’ve earned it.
Big media and ESPN won’t respect it, but they it’s not what they paid for.
It exposes the fallacy of voting in place of competition and pretending that somehow you can have a ligitimate champions. You cannot , the only way to determine a championship is by inclusive competition. It’s not about which team or teams are considered best by some committee vote. It’s about who wins , and sometimes the team that is considered best doesn’t win. That’s why they play the game , and that’s why we watch! To see who wins , and there can be no champion , without equal opportunity to play.
Easy solution…
GA plays UCF after beating bama.
Is that such a big deal?
