The first installment of the College Football Playoff Rankings came out Tuesday night.

The top 4 wasn’t that big of a surprise: 1. Alabama, 2. Clemson, 3. LSU and 4. Notre Dame.

Interestingly, UCF was ranked No. 12, just behind the two-loss Florida Gators.

UCF is and will continue to be a hot topic throughout the season, assuming the Knights continue to remain undefeated. While No. 12 is very solid, the schedule just hasn’t been there so far this season, as the Knights’ best win is over Memphis. Things improve starting this week against Temple.

UCF started at No. 18 in the debut Playoff poll last year; so, being ranked higher than 18 is a plus. Nevertheless, there’s still a ton of ground to make up in order to become the first Group of 5 team to make the Playoff.
