This has been one of the most exciting seasons of college football in recent memory. Especially in the SEC West. The amount of talent that this league has is pretty insane.
While there are some very good players and programs, there are also some overrated and underrated players/programs as well. Here is my list.
OVERRATED: TEXAS A&M OFFENSE
Where the hell has it been the last month?
The Aggies opened up on fire and were throwing it all over the yard. Texas A&M went from throwing for 500+ yards against South Carolina (which seems fairly easy to do now), to throwing for 106 yards against ULM. I’m not sure what exactly is going on over there with that offense and I hope they can get back on track, but it’s gone through a pretty significant meltdown from the beginning of the season.
Hopefully Kenny Hill does not get into the Eric Hyman doghouse. It’s not a fun place to be.
UNDERRATED: FLORIDA RUNNING BACKS
I’m talking about that Florida Gators running back duo of Kelvin Taylor and Matt Jones. These guys came into the season as some of the league’s best, but after a season of pure chaos, they got lost in the shuffle.
While nobody, myself included, gave the Gators an ice cube’s chance in hell of upsetting Georgia, these guys put the team on their backs and may have saved coach Will Muschamp’s job in the process.
Everyone pretty much had Muschamp being fired after this game and the Gators in a coaching search, but the running game and these two backs showed they’re not done yet. It’s amazing to say, but the Florida Gators actually have an outside chance of winning the East.
This season in the SEC has been complete chaos and there are some fans that may have gotten some gray hairs. But hey, this is the greatest conference in football and you should always expect the unexpected. Any given Saturday, baby!
