Updated Top 5 uncommitted SEC targets (Dec. 22)
Editor’s Note: All rankings, team or individual, are courtesy of 247Sports.
1. Martez Ivey, Apopka, Fla.
- Offers: Florida, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Clemson
- National Rank: No. 1 overall prospect
- The Skinny: Ivey ranks as the top prospect for the 2015 class. The Florida native has heavy interest in both the Gators and Auburn, which may have been swayed after the Tigers’ hiring of defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. However, Ivey said that he remains “50/50” following his team’s state championship win on Saturday and will use the dead period to weigh his options.
2. Iman Marshall, Long Beach, Calif.
- Offers: USC, FSU, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan
- National Rank: No. 3 overall prospect
- The Skinny: Marshall ranks as the No. 2 player and No. 1 cornerback for the 2015 class. The California native is expected to commit to USC, but has shown interest in LSU in recent weeks. Marshall’s best attributes are his instincts, change of direction and recovery speed and ranks high in other skill sets.
3. Byron Cowart, Seffner, Fla.
- Offers: Florida, FSU, Alabama, Maryland, Arkansas
- National Rank: No. 4 overall prospect
- The Skinny: Cowart ranks as the No. 1 strong-side defensive end and the No. 4 overall player for the 2015 class. The Seffner, Fla., native is a five-star prospect that has received offers from 12 SEC schools, but is expected to stay in-state, choosing between Florida and FSU. Cowart was impressed by newly hired Florida coach Jim McElwain after meeting with him for the first time this past weekend. However, the Muschamp hiring should make Auburn a sudden dark horse to land the prized recruit.
4. CeCe Jefferson, Glen Saint Mary, Fla.
- Offers: Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, FSU, Gerogia
- National Rank: No. 5 overall prospect
- The Skinny: Like Ivey and Cowart, Jefferson is a top in-state prospect with Florida and several other SEC teams on his radar. The five-star ranks as the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 2 strong-side defensive end in 2015. Jefferson’s best attributes are his athleticism, closing speed and pursuit, but needs to put on size before making the jump to the collegiate level.
5. Rasheem Green, Gardena, Calif.,
- Offers: Arizona State, USC, Miami, Oregon, Alabama
- National Rank: No. 13 overall prospect
- The Skinny: Though it seems like a longshot, Alabama remains in the running for Green, the No. 15 player in the 2015 class. The Tide trail Arizona State, USC, Miami and Oregon, but have time to sway the No. 3 defensive tackle before National Signing Day.
