No. 15 AUBURN at No. 1 ALABAMA, 7:45 p.m. ET, ESPN — The Crimson Tide’s had to live with it for a year now. Last season’s Iron Bowl debacle cost Alabama an SEC Championship Game appearance and more importantly, a shot at the program’s fourth national title in five years. Are we headed down that same path tonight in Tuscaloosa? To be fair, last year’s teams were more evenly-matched, a much-anticipated heavyweight bout of No. 1 vs. No. 4. Auburn stumbles into this one losers of two of its last three games with an offense that’s struggled to find its rhythm in November. Combine that with the fact Alabama’s defense is the nation’s best against the run and one would assume this one won’t be competitive, right? We know better. It’s the Iron Bowl, one of college football’s fiercest rivalries. Nick Saban needs two more signature wins to secure a spot in the first-ever College Football Playoff and that journey begins tonight at Bryant-Denny.
