Social media crushes Urban Meyer during his first press conference back at Ohio State
Urban Meyer’s first day back on the job hasn’t been a good one so far.
In the days leading up to Monday, Meyer gave ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi an exclusive interview and sidestepped questions regarding why his wife, Shelley, didn’t tell him about the domestic allegations brought to her attention by Zach Smith’s accuser, Courtney Smith.
Nonetheless, Meyer released yet another statement Monday morning on his first day back on the job as Ohio State’s head coach.
On Monday during his first press conference back, Meyer was asked some tough questions and had some notable things to say.
Urban Meyer: "I want to apologize for that performance (at BigTen Media Day).. There was zero intent to mislead."

Urban Meyer on the deleted text messages question: "I have never deleted a text message and I have never change a setting on my phone. I would never do that. I don't even know how to change a setting on my phone."

Urban Meyer on his conversation with his ops guy about text messages: "My recollection of that is there is an article out, something about the press may have access to your phone. And I said. I don't worry about my phone. There's nothing to hide on my phone and that was it."

Urban Meyer on Shelley Meyer’s text messages she received documenting Courtney Smith’s abuse: “She never shared text messages with me"
— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) September 17, 2018
Urban Meyer: "I made a mistake, not in domestic violence. Where I made a mistake was in not asking enough questions, and in a complete reliance on law enforcement. When you hear no charge, no arrest. How far can you go? What's do you do next? You can't go out an investigate."

Urban Meyer on hiring Zach Smith before 2012 season: “Looking back, I did not hire the right guy"

Urban Meyer says in response to report that he takes medication that affects his memory: "I'm very healthy." He said it doesn't impact his memory when he coaches.

Then, he was absolutely crushed for his answers on social media:
Urb: “I talked to several people about how do I support this family?”
Yet, he claims he didn’t talk to his own wife about the domestic violence she knew of.
The more you lie, the more you slip.

Urb on Shelley Meyer and text messages she received from Courtney Smith:
"She never shared text messages with me.”
Does he really think ANYONE believes this?

Somewhere Jim Tressel has to be thinking, I got fired for lying about dopey kids trading memorabilia for tatts — and they defended this utter sewer of a situation at all cost?

If true, this would also make Shelley Meyer an awful person. Lying to save yourself is one thing, throwing your wife under the bus to do it is downright sociopathic. https://t.co/1nqP4rJO7X

Urban Meyer compared Courtney Smith's allegations of domestic violence to other couples' "marriage problems."

Looks like Urban Meyer needs even more time away. This is not an acceptable answer. https://t.co/mQ3Fo8bIPa

This Urban Meyer interview makes me sick

Urban Meyer is COMPLETE SCUM!

@espn Watching the Urban Meyer interview, just doesn’t add up. Too many vague answers unless it’s only about him. Lost a lot of respect for him around this entire episode. Lost what was left today…

This Urban Meyer interview is a DUMPSTER FIRE.

Watching Urban Meyer's press conference. When asked what he would say to Courtney (again), he makes it about himself. He talks about how difficult it was to "stare at walls" during his suspension. Pretty sickening response.

Urban Meyer, who is smart enough to understand that his self defense tweets go over the character limit and therefore need to be typed out and screenshotted, wants you to think he doesn’t know how to change the message settings on his phone.
