As a means to get the crowd hyped, many teams employ mascots as a means for energy and excitement.

Some of these present-day jesters have choreographed pre-game rituals — which can even be an event itself. Florida State is a great example of this. It has a man in full Native American regalia named Osceola riding into the stadium on an appaloosa horse named Renegade.

Osceola pridefully carries a feathered spear. Holding it high over his head, he eventually strikes it into the turf — as the Seminole faithful cheer with glee.

Prior to Friday evening’s Orange Bowl between Florida State and Michigan, Oscelola and Renegade had a bit of a mishap when trying to execute the iconic gesture.
