The first Tuesday night college football game of the season on national television saw a gruesome injury where a key player was carted off the field.

Appalachian State RB Jalin Moore was carted off the field during the second quarter of Tuesday night’s game against Arkansas State with an apparent ankle injury. Moore scored on a 27-yard run, but as he was dragged down from behind, his legs were caught under a defender.

The play was reviewed to see if the ball crossed the goal line, and the ruling on the field stood after the official review.

Moore has 400 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 63 carries this season, and he’s topped 1,000 yards each of the last two seasons, including 1,402 yards and 10 TDs in 2016.

App State coach Scott Satterfield after the game, a 35-9 win, didn’t immediately have an update on Moore’s status. He said they would get back and have MRIs and X-rays, according to an interview with Ethan Joyce of the Winston-Salem Journal.
