With tensions high between police and civilians these days, it’s nice to see officers and high school students engaging in an overwhelmingly positive interaction.

That’s what happened in Appleton, Wisconsin, last week, as officer Jack Taschner led East Appleton High School students in a cheer.

The students usually do a cheer where a student pretends to be the bus driver and the other students follow his or her lead. Just as it appeared Taschner was stepping in to put an end to the fun, though, he instead led the cheer himself, as you can see below:

“It just kind of popped in my head, I’d like to join in on them doing their cheer, and whatever they do, the bus driver thing, so I came in Friday morning, I talked to the principals, I said hey, here’s what I thought, I had an idea, and they said, yea, run with it,” Taschner said to WBAY.com.

Based on how much fun it looks like Taschner and the students had, this could become the school’s newest tradition.
